TARACEA’s repertoire springs from Renaissance and Baroque Europe, inspired by the idea of bringing early and traditional music into the present, performing it with the tools and perspectives of contemporary musicians well versed in tradition.

Their first album, AKOÉ (Alpha Classics, 2020), made up of arrangements of dances, songs and madrigals, received excellent reviews. This work leaves ample room for improvisation and interaction between the musicians, the hallmark of a group in which multiple traditions converge with a discreet but vigorous innovative drive.

With Desvíos a Santiago, Taracea musically describes a pilgrimage that begins in Central Europe, crosses France, stops at Montserrat and ends in the Galician capital. Along the way, they gather the rich repertoire of the pilgrims, which travelled all over Europe, was sung in a multitude of languages and was – and still is – constantly recreated. Polyglot, borderless music that gives us back a rich and ancestral Europe.

Taracea performs as a trio, quartet or quintet, with Rainer Seiferth (vihuela and arrangements), Belén Nieto (flutes), Miguel Rodrigáñez (double bass), Isabel Martín (vocals) and David Mayoral (percussion). 2021 marked the consolidation of the ensemble, with concerts at leading events such as the Festival de Música Antigua de Gijón, the Festival Internacional en el Camino de Santiago and the Semana de Música Antigua de Logroño. This consolidation continued the following year with their appearance at the London International Festival of Early Music, and carries on to this day with regular tours in Germany, Morocco, Italy and Spain.
